5 Ways to Cut IT Costs and Put Some $ Back in Your Pocket Now!

During this challenging time it’s imperative to cut unnecessary costs and preserve cash flow. One of the areas where this is possible to do very quickly is information technology. Below are some actions you can take where you should be able to see savings reflected on your invoices within a month or two. Please consult with your IT provider or call us for assistance:

  1. Clean up mailboxes and software license packages – often employees have come and gone but their mailboxes for Office365 or G-Suite have not been converted or decommissioned to avoid monthly fees. Same thing with software licenses, especially Cloud/SaaS apps where the small per user per month fee [x] number of users can go unnoticed and really add up!
  2. Review your telecom bills and contracts – bandwidth prices have come down and the FCC has issued guidance for Telecoms to be flexible with service and cost adjustments (Keep America Connected). Less people in the office means you may not need a Gigabit fiber line or your backup circuit.
  3. Review other service contracts, most vendors will lower your price after a few years as it typically takes less work to service you at that point, especially if the user or item count has gone down – Hosting, Data Storage and Backup Services, Martech and Marcomm apps, etc.
  4. Instead of buying new machines, replace hard drives and upgrade RAM, you can usually get 2-3 more years out of a machine by doing so
  5. Time to revisit the printer fleet costs, users are printing less at the office, return excess HW. Ask a Managed Print Services vendor to conduct a print cost audit, they can usually lower your costs per page and include free service and repair into the program
